Checkups & Cleanings for Children

Developing smiles require a trained eye that can look for abnormalities, inconsistencies, and even hidden areas of decay and damage. With children’s dentistry services at our office, our dentists can closely monitor tooth eruption, potential cavities and gum disease, bite misalignment, and even sleep-breathing problems with regular dental checkups and cleanings. Apart from the thorough examination we’ll provide – using enhanced X-rays and imaging – we’ll also give teeth a beautiful shine by removing accumulated plaque and tartar during these appointments.
Athletic Mouthguard/ Sportsguards

Does your child participate in an athletic event that involves contact with other people, projectiles, or hard surfaces? In addition to wearing a helmet and pads, it’s also important they protect their vulnerable smile with a sportsguard. Our staff can provide a personalized appliance that’s leaps and bounds ahead of the one-size-fits-all models you find at the store, allowing for plenty of jaw movement, easy breathing, and optimal comfort.
Dental Sealants

Teeth located toward the back of the mouth are often missed by young patients who are still learning how to properly brush. If left uncleaned or untouched, bacteria can enter through the small pits and grooves, causing cavities to form. However, with dental sealants, we can shield tooth enamel from the dangers of plaque and tartar. A plastic resin coating is painted onto the chewing surfaces to prevent any debris or food particles from penetrating, effectively protecting their teeth for up to 10 years.
Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)

Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a safe preventive solution designed to target existing decay and eliminate it. When a cavity forms, SDF can be applied to the affected area so that the silver kills the bacteria, while the fluoride stops the spread of decay and remineralizes the enamel. This creates stronger teeth in between appointments while providing a less invasive treatment option for children who may not be ready to receive restorative care.
Pulp Therapy

The innermost layer of a tooth is known as the pulp. Consisting of nerves and blood vessels, it can become damaged or infected, resulting in extreme pain and additional oral health problems if left untreated. With pulp therapy, though, we can remove the affected tissues and pulp, leaving behind a healthier tooth that appears natural and no longer requires extraction.
Dentistry for Children with Special Needs

Children with intellectual and developmental disabilities require first-rate oral healthcare, and it’s why Dr. Plaisance and Dr. Bostick offer special needs dentistry. We can address a variety of dental problems commonly associated with individuals who have autism, Down Syndrome, etc. Our dentists will discuss any accommodations we can provide to ensure your child’s health and safety, making sure they feel comfortable throughout their visit.
